Meet the Team
Planners, planters, pruners and more – our team is a melting pot of experience with one common goal: creating dream gardens. These are the people that help make it happen.
Nic Howard
Founder and driving force behind We Love Plants, Nic is an award-winning designer whose passion for flowers and planting is at the very heart of everything we do. With an exceptional eye for detail and a deep understanding of horticulture, Nic personally handpicks every plant to ensure each garden is not only beautiful but uniquely suited to its environment and client.
Nic is involved at every stage of the design process, from initial concept sketches in the studio, through on-site project management, to selecting the perfect specimens at the nursery. His distinctive style marries functionality with timeless beauty, favouring soft, cottage-style planting that feels effortlessly natural and inviting. Whether it’s an intimate courtyard or a sprawling country garden, Nic’s thoughtful approach transforms outdoor spaces into living works of art.
Known for his warm, collaborative spirit, Nic inspires the team and clients alike with his dedication, knowledge, and infectious enthusiasm for all things green and growing. His commitment to quality and creativity continues to shape the studio’s growing reputation as a leader in garden design.
Certified sweet treat addict who never met a cake he didn’t like, seriously, the man’s got a snack stash that could rival a bakery. Proud dog dad to his rambunctious boys, he’s equally skilled at herding pups as he is at sneaking extra dessert. When he’s not indulging his sugar cravings, you’ll find him conquering walking holidays, proving that all those calories have a purpose… sort of.
Melanie
The steady hand behind the scenes, Melanie brings structure, clarity, and calm to the fast-moving world of garden design. With a sharp eye for operations and a natural feel for people, Melanie plays a vital role in shaping the business, streamlining systems, supporting the team, and helping the studio grow with purpose and direction.
From strategic planning to day-to-day team management, Melanie is deeply involved in the rhythm of the company, ensuring everything runs smoothly while creating space for creativity to flourish. In a design-led environment, she strikes the perfect balance between focus and flexibility, always looking for thoughtful ways to improve, refine, and drive the business forward.
Huge Madonna fan, with a voice that’s almost as good as hers. Always somehow lucky enough to score tickets to the biggest gigs, from the Eras Tour to Oasis, she’s front row and loving it.
Scott
With over 30 years of experience in floristry and horticulture, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and calm expertise to the We Love Plants team. As a team leader, he plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the beauty of our clients’ gardens, with a particular talent for elegant, seasonal planting schemes that evolve gracefully over time.
From the first planting to the final flourish, Scott ensures every border is carefully considered and meticulously maintained. He leads our dedicated maintenance team, organising all client visits with precision and care to keep every garden looking its best throughout the year.
When the festive season arrives, Scott’s talents extend beyond the garden, he’s also the creative mind behind our Christmas installations, dressing clients’ homes with beautifully styled greenery and seasonal charm.
Artistic to his core and never far from a stage, Scott’s love of theatre is matched only by his talent with flowers — the kind that have graced royal tables and palace halls. He’s met more royals than most, but don’t worry, he’s still happy to chat blooms, bows, and Broadway with the rest of us.
Sarah
Stepping in seamlessly to cover Katie’s maternity leave, Sarah brings energy, organisation, and a steady hand to her role as Project Co-ordinator. With a sharp focus and a calm presence, she keeps projects running smoothly and ensures every client feels informed, supported, and confident throughout the process.
From timelines and task lists to thoughtful communication, Sarah is across every detail, always one step ahead and ready to adapt. In a dynamic studio environment, Sarah plays a key role in keeping everything on track and everyone connected.
Equal parts thrill-seeker and aesthete, Sarah spends her spare time diving into shark-infested waters, literally, and her evenings indulging in horror cinema. Host of a cult-favourite podcast and a collector of spine-tingling tales, she brings a sense of daring sophistication to even the darkest depths.
Olivia
A new addition to the studio, Olivia joins us as an Assistant Garden Designer after completing the KLC Diploma in Garden Design at West Dean. With a fresh perspective and a meticulous eye, she brings creativity, curiosity, and quiet confidence to her first role in the industry.
Olivia’s background in the insurance sector lends her a sharp attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a calm, client-focused approach, qualities that translate beautifully into the world of garden design. Eager to learn and quick to contribute, she’s already becoming a valued part of the team, supporting projects with both enthusiasm and precision as she begins her design journey.
With a keen eye for style and a soft spot for structure, Olivia brings heart, humour, and just the right amount of polish to everything she touches, from building a playground in Kenya to curating the perfect cushion combo at home. She shares her space with Taggy the pup, a cat with attitude, and an ever-growing stack of interior design mags. Early to bed, big on aesthetics, and always ready with a fresh perspective.
Katie
Katie is responsible for all administration and project management duties, as well as helping to liaise with clients and suppliers, ensuring the smooth runnings of each project. Katie is your friendly, first point of contact at the studio, helping to arrange the issue of new enquiry documentation and book in initial consultations. She will also be on hand to assist with the communication and liaisons with suppliers and landscapers during the installation of your project.
Currently on maternity leave (juggling babies like a pro), Katie’s a glam queen with a serious love for makeup and a talent for being fabulously distracted, usually by a new lipstick or a rogue snack. Multi-tasking? Always. Focused? Occasionally. Stylish? Without fail.
The Office Dogs
Meet our three Basset Fauve de Bretagne, widely accepted as the real decision-makers.
Otis is the original. A grumpy old man with a well-developed side-eye and a firm belief that most things could be done better. He keeps a quiet but watchful presence over the studio.
Henry, the middle child, is more relaxed. Always available for attention, rarely involved in conflict, and generally happy as long as there are treats involved and someone is making a fuss of him.
Rubus, affectionally known as Big Bird, is the youngest, but also the biggest and the hairiest. His current role involves lots of cuddles, annoying his older brothers, dismantling flower beds, digging with purpose, and moving through the garden at speed with very little regard for structure or intent.
Between them, they provide oversight, disruption, and the occasional moment of calm.
