For The Sounds of Adventure Garden
A central building appears to levitate above the garden and over planting, chosen to encourage pollinators.
A watercourse gently snakes through the garden, supporting biodiversity and playing a crucial part of the balanced water management system, which flows throughout the design. Each plant and each feature, relates to our interconnectedness with the earth, urging us to tread lightly and cherish our place in the environment.
Landscape and Garden Award “Highly Commended” for Windmill Bank Garden, East Grinstead
The brief was for a garden that not only was functional but also prioritised sustainability, biodiversity and water efficiency within its rural location. The 1.5-acre plot was transformed into a sustainable garden design focusing on creating entertaining areas and enhancing the routes to the house. The planting scheme mainly consisted of perennials and grasses to leverage the natural features of the site and Pyrus Chanticleer trees to provide shade and screening to the house.
What the Judges said: “An excellent example of a traditional approach to planting. Considered, cohesive and well-proportioned, the design demonstrates a bold mix of plants suited to the site, good textural consideration and an excellent use of trees. A really strong planting design.”
