Overview
Collaborating with David Harber, our award-winning 2016 design focused on traditional English country garden atmospheres. But how did we do it?
An Oak pavilion anchored the garden and subtly separated the space into smaller areas, which showcased the sculptures in a traditional setting. The planting at the front of the pavilion was selected for the sunny location, and a mix of perennials and grasses created an English garden feel. The rear corner of the garden is where the two main vistas meet under a stand of four Quercus Ilex.
Woodland Atmosphere
The planting towards the back of the garden had a woodland atmosphere, with a tapestry of different foliage: Ferns, Epimediums, Hakonochloa and Dicentra punctuated with spires of Digitalis alba.
Sustainability
The garden was designed with environmental sustainability in mind; the main paved surfaces were beautiful silver grey textured porcelain combined with English Clay pavers. The deck under the Oak pavilion used engineered wood in a lifelike silver grey.
