Aspirational New England



My Mothers home in Godstone, Surrey underwent a complete refurbishment to haul it from a 1960’s bungalow to the cool, contemporary family home it now is. What a lucky Mum she is!!

I had the privilege to be involved in this project from its inception and I was able to truly design the house and garden as an entire concept. The house is set in the middle of the plot and the challenge was to accommodate all the functionality of modern living whilst allowing the house to appear nestled within the plants and greenery. Sweeping lawns and generously planted borders bursting with woodland perennials and shrubs blur the boundaries between garden and woodland. Whilst crunchy gravel paths meander beneath Rose and Clematis adorned Oak pergolas unraveling hidden focal points that combine to create a magical space.

The neutral colour palette, wide plank weatherboarding and the beautiful indigenous woodland setting created a distinctive New England vernacular
