Along the Meadow
Nestled near the historic village of Chiddingstone, Kent this garden was on a heavy clay soil and exposed to the harsh northwesterly wind and had been gardened by the owners for 20 years before they called me in for a fresh start. With such a beautiful location and stunning views I had a great starting point, my solution was to use plants – and lots of them! I created generous sweeping borders that incorporated the existing pond, screened off their cars (whilst utilizing the car barn as a backdrop) and turning lawn banks into softly planted, billowing hillocks. All these little ingredients sing in harmony with the adjacent country meadow.
