From Gloom to Bloom

I love a dramatic before and after and this garden doesn’t disappoint! I was called in to transform this Reigate garden in Surrey from soggy and muddy to a light and airy contemporary space for the entire family and their three dogs and Koi Carp. The crisp lines of the design are reinforced with bands of sawn Harvest Sandstone that provide good definition to the large artificial lawns. Purbeck walling creates a wonderfully atmospheric detailing throughout the whole garden, particularly the feature Moon gate wall at the end. The planting in this garden had to graduate from intensely sunny near the house to woodland shade towards to back. This transition had to appear seamless to ensure the garden worked as a whole whilst guaranteeing the chosen plants would thrive in their allotted positions. I’ve used a mixed Mediterranean style palette for around the pool, with Irises, Roses, Geraniums, Rosemary and Agapanthus with a mix of grasses to add texture whilst towards the end of the garden I have used White Iceberg Roses, Geraniums, Hellebores, Hakonochloa, Hydrangea and lots of varied ferns.
